| | depressed | ] | Monday was horrifying. I haven’t cried that much in years. How anyone can stand stoic and unmoving in the face of suffering – especially animal suffering – is something I will never understand and cannot accept.
Even though he was in a lot of pain and doing the biting thing dogs do when they hurt, he was always very careful not to bite down on me, even when I offered him my hand so he’d stop flailing in search of a target. He nommed but didn’t bite, just to relieve the pain.
The…incident…makes it very difficult to like people at large. The family we were with were wonderful and loving/kind about it, too, so I can’t hate all of humanity. But God do I want to.
It wasn’t one of ours, or even one of the family’s with whom we were visiting; but in the end, it was us (the family and us) who took care of the situation when everyone else who was actually involved did nothing.
Don’t do nothing. Never stand stoic in the face of suffering. Do whatever is in your power to ease or resolve that suffering, whether it’s in a human or an animal.

Earring
Has anyone seen an earring exactly like this? I've been trying to find a replacement pair for a few years now with no luck. I've never seen a pair like them [or even quite as nice] since.
Any help is appreciated! |

Your result for The Social Persona Test (What kind of man/woman are you?)...
The Renaissance Faire Wench (QLAF)Quirky Liberal Alpha Female
The hardest part about being the Renn. Faire Wench is that people often mistake you for a beta female. This is not so. You might be quite flirtatious, but you are hardly relient on men. You like to do things the mainstream would consider weird, (like dress in costume, perhaps?). Eat, drink, and be merry, but make sure whoever you date respects you and does not take advantage of your laid-back attitude. (BTW, you are likely the only type who can see That Creepy Guy (NLBM) for who he is, helping him to bring out the Manga Geek (QLBM) inside. This does not mean you have to date one, however. You are quite flexible and can enjoy the company of many of the types.)
You are more QUIRKY than NORMAL.
You are more LIBERAL than TRADITIONAL.
You are more DOMINANT than PASSIVE.
When picking a date, consider: The Lord of the Misfits (QLAM), The Fratt Boy (NLAM), The Snowball's Chance in Hell (QTBM), The Manga Geek (QLBM), or That Creepy Guy (NLBM).

Alright, everyone, put yer Hoping Caps on and think REAAAAAAL hard at the Bariatric Center so they'll get the documents they need and call me to schedule my home stretch into the surgery!
*hopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehope*
On that note, I have to say - sappily/cornily - that this (pending) surgery has given me just that: hope. Hope that I CAN be thin again. Hope that I can have the willpower to KEEP the weight off and make amazing [and difficult] changes in my life, so that I will live longer, be healthier, and enjoy life more than I've been able to these past few years.
I know some of you have noticed that my hermitness has gotten worse lately. I'm sorry; it is not a slight to you. It is because I am embarassed of myself, what I look like, what I've become. I'm embarassed of always being too tired to participate in your life and mine. I'm embarassed by my crankiness and grouchiness, byproducts of how I feel physically.
I promise you, it will get better. And I will need your help. I will need help making these changes and STICKING TO THEM. If you're an (relatively) intimate part of my life, please pay attention when we're together. I cannot eat what I used to, even in small quantities. While it might not make me sick, it WILL keep me fat and long-term sick. I need your patience and encouragement. Helpful [but not overbearing] suggestions. Someone to go shopping with every few weeks for an outfit or two that I can wear during that size. Company here at the complex to exercise at least a few times a week (I can walk alone or with J the other days).
The long and short of it is, I need you. And I hope you need me, enough to put up with the way I'll be for a while. It will be nothing short of pathetic for a couple months after the surgery, as I slurp my broth and whistfully watch you eat your food. Unless it's pretty healthy, don't give in and offer me a bite. If it IS healthy (high protien, low fat, low carbs, and soft), encourage me to try a small bite. This surgery is actually more about EXPANDING what I eat than contracting; I eat shit right now. I don't eat the good things. I need to learn to. Scallops (getting there), asparagus (help), soups and broths (I have no clue where to start), healthy tiny meals with few or no carbs (fruit, wheats, rices, etc).
Long post, I know, but I needed to get this off my chest, in a public forum, while I had the guts to. No pun intended.
Kiwi - any chance you'll be in town for AWA this year? If you come, you'll get to see the somewhat-melted-by-then me =D Plus, our futon is comfy and we have 3 fuzzy kitties! (two of which actually like people!) |

I'll be damned. I'm going through my childhood medical records.....I really WAS talking in short sentences at 6months and walking/running at 8months.
I thought mom might have been exagerating. But the doctor's medical records don't lie. |

Took mom to see Sarah Brightman (live). Aside from forgetting the tickets and making us about 20 min late, it was amazing. SHE'S amazing.
The most rewarding part was when mom nudged me and was like "look!! Loook! Can you see them up there?" She was talking about the crew, in all black, crawling out on the light scaffolding to set up for the next scene. We're talking, WAY above us, in the dark. I was SO happy - she couldn't have seen Sarah Brightman - who was, incidentally, about 12 ft away from our seats - a little over a year ago. Now she can see THAT. And well. |
